HP/TQ ratings different for Chassis Cabs

In my readings of the Ford QVM Commercial Vehicle - Special Vehicle Operations publication regarding MY2011 vehicles (page 21 of 51, published 10/2010), the 6.7L Powerstroke diesel has horsepower ratings of 400HP @ 2800rpm and 800ft-lb @ 1600rpm for pickups and pickup box delete trucks.

For Chassis Cab vehicles the figures are 300HP @ 2800rpm and 660ft-lb @ 1600 rpm.

Kinda sad because we just picked up four F350's CC's and I was bragging about the power they had. Not knowing we were actually getting 2001 Duramax HP ratings and 2004 Cummins torque ratings...on the all new 2011 PSD 6.7L.

Oh well. At least we got the new transmission, huh?

Yes, I know the feeling. I did quite a bit of research before making the jump, based on all the hooplah of direct turbo fast response and power.... However No where in my search did I discover the restraints on the Cab/Chassis till I had spent 50K.
I really like my truck but performance wise, it simply does not compare to my Duramax which is also rated at 300HP.
I have a Very Bitter taste at these not being labeled in a different manner so we can be aware of what we are buying.
Like I said though, I really like the truck, Ford has impressed me and I'm sure the full=blooded Scorpion would complete the package.

Maybe I was just lucky, But I had no trouble finding out that the chassis cab trucks had a detuned engine. I really don't think Ford delibertly tried to hide that fact. It's pretty easy to find.

Its in the same area as the Dodge Chassis cabs use DEF while the pickups don't. Chassis cab trucks are just built to a different spec.
