Truck has 55000 miles on it. Last trip was just under 800 miles towing at 65 to 70 mph. Average was 10.5 mpg. I believe regeneration occurred three times. Roughly at 200 mile intervals.

Empty I usually average 18 to 20 mpg at 65 to 70 mph and regeneration will occur at around 400 miles.

It's not a perfectly exact event but fairly close.

Regen

We have some Sterling and Hino trucks at work that all have the DPF. While these are "heavy" trucks, the principle is the same.

One of the trucks I drive often is a 2008 Sterling with the Cummins ISC 8.3L, and it goes into "regen" mode two or three times every 200 miles (less than one day of driving for me). I think this is way too often, as most of our other trucks do it maybe once a week.

It smells bad, puts out hot exhaust and runs rough whenever the amber indicator light on the dash turns on. The fuel mileage on our DPF-equipped trucks is simply awful (about 6 mpg for tandem axles & 7.5 to 8 mpg for single axles), so I hardly think that it can be good for the environment.

I think the idea is that we are cleaning up the factory smog while we drive around.

Just got back from Creed Co, DPF sucks, I pulled a 27 ft camper , regen was every 220 ml. I had 50 ml on the fuel guest o meter at 20 ml out side of Dumas Tx and regen hit, I did not think i was going to make it. 4 miles left on the guest o meter. I am DPF no more. Dont wont to tune but wont to DPF delete. HELP............

DPF or not you can't rely on the miles to empty, especially towing. I usually look to fill up way before E when towing. Maybe 1/4 tank.

You might research DPF-R if you don't want a tuner.
