All right you all this is my first experience with a 6.4l personally. I've only had it two days, but with 277,000 on my 04 6.0 (which I loved) but starting to have transmission slip between 3rd and 4th, and 10,000 spent on Bullet proffing 122,000 ago I was ready for a new truck, and I found it hard to pass the deal.
I traded my truck to a local dealer, and they certified it with an additional 1year 12,000 mile full Powertrain/ engine warranty. The car fax checked out with usually warranty work completed. IE: Radiator replaced, recall done on Hitch, and some general oil changes and so on. Nothing major that I was present even when I double checked it myself. I also took it to my local diesel tech, he checked rocker covers and looked over for any signs of early failures that he generally knows about. He gave me a thumbs up it was sound.
Plus side the last 4 days it's been great, no issues, but I'm getting ready to hook up my 15,000lb 5th wheel this weekend for a 4 day weekend with the family. 900 mile round trip.
I've put 300 miles on it and no regen! Concern is the exhaust has been cut off right behind the rear axle, at the down bend. (not sure why) my local deisel shop had no positive answers either. everything from the turbo back appears to still be stock. My fuel mileage calculated out to about 17.25 to the gallon average. Which is better then stock, from what I read. But as all other F450's it doesn't run like my Bullet profed well tune 6.0l I wanted the strong reliability of the 450 for towing primarily. That is almost all I do with it, 12 to 15,000 a year with a heavy goose neck or camper. It does run a lot stronger then our Cab and Chasy 450 shop trucks.
I said all that to ask a few questions. How often should i expect Regin? Can you tell if the DPF and EGR delete have been done? Would my suspicions of a programmer be correct based off of mileage and seemingly better performance. I don't want to take it in to have a factory flash put in if the deletes are complete, is there a way to check and see if it's been programmed?
Sorry so lengthy but just a little nervous, first dealings with this new of a truck with a long haul coming up.
Thanks
