so I get my truck back (08 f350)and hook the trailer to it and there are 0 lights. I just unhooked the trailer from another vehicle and all lights were working so I know its not the trailer. I plugged a reciver plug tester in and no lights came on meaning no power. I looked in the book and checked fuses but no luck...... I think there was a 10amp fuse inside and 1 outside under the hood if I remember?
what fuses should I check?
2 relays are called out in the book too---- how to test them? switch with another one and try?
thanks.
I will check the wires coming into the plug but I think they will be dead as well- I took the wire harness apart that goes into the plug itself and they were clean and still had the "greese" showing so I think the problem is well before the plug itself......
test light is what I would use
the cover for the plug has the pin layout molded on it
and just FYI on the superduty the hot/charge /+ lead won't be hot with the truck off
it is key activated to protect the batteries from a trailer discharge so
your sure the trailer isn't wired funky for the other truck ??
Got it-
Don't ask me why but it was unplugged from the harness........
Next question. Another trailer all lights work but the brake controller doesn't light up so it doesn't know the trailer is hooked up so no brakes...... What could this issue be?
Do you have another trailer with brakes to check? This would rule out truck vs trailer issue. Someone else maybe of more help here, but a multi meter is your best bet if you can't find blown fuse
