4x4 valance really works!

ok so when the truck was bought, it was taken to our upfitter and plow was put on. rather than cutting the bracket opening out of the valance, the shop just removed the air dam to make it easier on them. well i seen it in the garage the other day and said heck i will trim it and put it on the truck. I read it affects fuel mileage and mine is very poor(due to mainly stop and go city type driving) so its worth a shot. Now before this my lie o meter was at mid 11's averaged out and when i hand calculated my fuel mileage it was anywhere from 11-12 mpg. I slapped the 4x4 valance on and went about the week and noticed my lie-o-meter slowly going up so i decided to reset it and not change any driving habits. after a tank and a half of fuel the lie-o meter has averaged out to about a steady 14.8, hand claculated at 14.59 mpg! needless to say, im pumped! thats a huge increase and considering ive been losing out for 40k miles thats a lot of money. best i have ever gotten was a highway trip when we took the quads i got 13.8 hand calculated without the air dam so i should do better next time. this next tank Im gonna try some REV-X distance fuel treatment and see what happens.

Im running H&s mini maxx on the hot dam file in the stock setting (turned all the way down), 5" flo pro and AFE stage 2 dry filter. I have a flo pro EGR delete kit waiting to go on with elbow and cold side pipe just havent had time to get it done. this was on stock size BFG AT.

thats what I said. I think it keeps the air from hitting the suspension components or something. it has to effect aerodynamics for it to change my mileage that much

I never would've thought.
Mine is an 08 w/ the shorter valance, but I'm running 35" Nittos. I wonder if the larger valance would help anymore?

I need to order a new one, mine has a cut in it like they were going to put a plow on and never did after making 1 cut. Anyways, now I gotta make sure I get the right one and not the lower version. Great lol

madcat6183, you know how to find me and I can get you one at cost if you need it.

travisH3, speaking of using the REV-X, in a ton of tests the Stanadyne Performance Formula Warm Weather Blend has crushed all additives thus far. what are your thoughts?

In the past ive tried the motorcraft centane booster without any change. then i switch to powerservice white bottle for winter time to make sure we dont gel up plowing but besides gelling prevent the powerservices doesnt change mileage or the way it runs. I was down at holderdown and seen rev x distance on the shelf and thought i would try some. havent picked any up yet but its a thought. I was surprised at how long the bottle lasts. its very small doses where my big power service bottle only treats 250 gallons where with multiple trucks it goes quick. I may have to look into it.

Roger that bud, appreciate it. Need to get together once the move is done and summer has arrived and do a few things to the truck anyways that you have experience with and I don't.

I didn't update you and not to hijack Trav's thread, but Ricart repalced the pinion seal, and another part for 0.00 after they took 2 more tries to do it. I went in on Saturday after they failed to fix anything Friday and talked to someone higher up than before and she was there Monday when they paid for my rental, and fixed everything for 0.00. Then told me straight up they were sorry and I would get special treatment for my next apt too. If I ever make another there LOL.

madcat6183, I'm glad that finally got resolved for you and now that the weather is good it's time to do some mods and such. Ricart and Germain are blacklisted in my book. Bob Chapman Ford has been a dream to work with on anything. Gimme a shout soon. I'm starting my Nathan K5LA project this coming week. It will be epic lol.
