Cleaning Exhaust Filter message staying on

Ok, I tried doing a search, as I can usually find an answer to my questions, but was unable to do so in this case.

When I first got my 08 F250 the cleaning exhaust filter message would always stay on when in regen. A few months ago I had my truck in at Ford to get the belt tensioner replaced and I assumed they reflashed it as since then the cleaning exhaust message only stayed on for a few seconds when in regen. The other day, however, I was towing my camper up a hill when the message came on and stayed on as it did in the past. Does this mean something in particular if the message stays on? Thanks in advance for your help.

Does it say 'cleaning exhaust filter' or 'drive to clean filter'? If it's the latter, sometimes the DPF gets so clogged a regular Regen isn't enough so it tells you to drive until the message goes away.

It was both actually. While I was driving the "cleaning exhaust filter" message was on and stayed on but as soon as I came to a stop it displayed "Drive to clean filter."
