legality/availability of dpf delete tuners?

I'm looking to buy a 08 6.4 and I don't know what the deal is with the EPA and suing the performance companies and wether or not u can still get the tuners that delete the dpf and or egr?

I was looking at the edge race evolution online and it seemed like it had the option to turn off the dpf but I'm not sure if it's still current or not?

Also someone told me that you can get fined for removing the dpf?? Is this true?

From personal knowledge, I know that Spartan will allow dpf and egr delete for "off road" use only. Spartan Diesel Technologies

As for fines, I dont really know, but Im sure if you live in a state that has emissions testing ther could be some issues.

I guess ill have to use the excuse of ignorance....it was like that when i bought it!!!! I just fuel it up, thats all I know.

Honestly - I would say do some research on this. there are about 25 threads a day on this which is probably why you aren't getting much in the way of response.

Yes you can still get DPF delete tuners but they are hard to find and are always expensive. I just put a minimaxx on mine yesterday with 4" DP and 5" DP-back. Whole different animal!

2010 F350 Lariat CCLB - The Tow Rig - S&B Intake. H&S MiniMaxx. 4" FloPro DP. 5" FloPro DP-Back.

2001 Explorer Sport Trac - The Trail Rig - Dana44 Solid Axle Swap. Spring over conversion in the rear. Rolling on 35s with ~14" of travel at all 4 corners

I've been researching for 2 days straight and I haven't got a straight answer yet, not only which tuners but HOW? Do you have to contact each tuner company? Do they have an option that's labeled "dpf delete"? Why can't you see on the tuners description wether or not it does delete the dpf??

I wouldn't be asking this if this forum had the answers because I would have found them already

Your best bet of finding one is talking to a diesel shop. My buddy owns his shop and says that it's mostly those guys that pick them up because they're so rare. He found mine in Oregon when we're in SC.

I live up in Canada and just did some research on all this. The DPF deletes are illegal in the US, and you will be hard pressed to find someone there who sells one. Especially one that advertises that it does DPF deletes. Go on Ebay.ca and order and SCT 3015R (not 3015). That's the most economical solution I've heard of for you guys down south.

This is what I have, bought mine off craigslist. The SCT 9625OR livewire will turn off egr/dpf too. Along with h&s and spartan, you can do the dpf-r too.

Most of the DPF Delete tuners or "off-road" only tuners were taken off the market. 3 years ago SCT had a bunch that they sold and listed on the website, plus Edge Racing tuners and others as well. The EPA hit most of these companies with large fines. So if you are looking for a DPF Delete tuner it is best to call up a distributor and ask them directly or call the manufacturer. I personally run a Spartan programmer and love it. It will do the DPF and EGR deletes.
