Looking to Purchase

Just put a deposit on a 2010 F350 4x4. Currently I've got a 6.0 and have learned all the different issues. Wondering what there is to know about the 6.4? The truck already has the DPF delete. Don't really care for more power, but need a tuner to turn off the check engine light. What's recommended?

If the truck already has a DPF delete, it should have a tuner on it, or else it will be stuck in regen. If that's the case, I'd stay far away from it.

I am aware of the tuner requirement. The truck is at a Ford dealership and the previous owner removed the tuner at time of trade-in. The dealership could put a new DPF on it, but that would raise the price of the truck. They are personally willing to cover it for the 30K that is left on the powertrain warranty. Just looking for more for longevity feedback on the 6.4. Got my 6.0 to over 300,000 miles and still going strong. Looking to do the same to the 6.4. Only want something newer to go with my new 5th wheel.

Pay the $900 and throw on an H&S or Spartan. Well worth every penny.

$900? Did you steal yours? Hehe jk. Lowest on h&s is about 1500 right now I think for an xrt and the Spartan is about the same price. I would go for one of those unless you want the sotf capability of the minimaxx. If you don't want or need a tuner like that you could go with a dpf-r. I believe they are quite a bit cheaper but you would need the exhaust sensors hooked up and in the pipe

Yea I'd say it's been awhile lol. Much more expensive now.

Mohle I did alittle searching for ya. If you just want to get the truck drivable with the dpf delete it PTP has the dpf-r for 5-600. That's about as low as it's gonna get unless you can find a used tuner for less

I wish it was only $900. I'd have bought one this weekend. Instead, I need to file my taxes and use my return to buy mine.

Not too concerned about the tuner. I will run it on stock settings anyway. Probably end up getting the SCT 3015R. It allows to delete the dpf and keep stock tuning. Just need to know more about the 6.4 itself.

Running stock power levels you should be fine but I would also look into an egr delete. Keep up with maintenance like your life depends on it and it should be fine. Also check the bottom of the radiator on the driver side they tend to leak there and also see if it has the updated hoses. I believe they are white?
