Any reason not to use Shell Rotella Ultra ELC

As the title states? I couldn't find Cat ELC so I ordered a case of Rotella ULTRA ELC.

Just wondering if it is compatible with Cat ELC. Done some searches but it's not clear, to me at least.

Thanks

Spock

That is probably the best ELC available right now. Cat EC-1 rated, right on the bottle. You will want to do a full flush and mix with distilled water for the fill. I also highly recommend using an Airlift tool to refill the block. It prevents many headaches....

I have had it in my truck for two years now, and is still perfectly clear with no crust in the degas bottle like the ford gold.

There is nothing wrong with the red Rotella ELC, but it is not as good as the Ultra which is gold in color. Ultra was designed specifically for long life with minimal maintenance in EGR equipped diesel engines.

Yes the ultra elc is the best stuff right now and is ec-1 rated. Rotella elc will work fine tho and is better than ford gold.

I went with the Fleetrite(International branded ELC) which is Cat EC-1 and Navistar B-3 rated. IT is what is sued by Navistar in the Navistar maxxforce engine(our 6.4)
