Do i need a diesel? Help

Looking @ 09 6.4 75k on it price is right...but do I really need one!

1) I tow every day during spring, summer, fall a 16foot enclosed with 4-5 thousand pounds in it.

2) Couple times a month I tow my 10.000 pound loader.

3) I plow snow....storms will keep me out for 30-50 hrs straight of run time.....lot of that time is idle time as well as I shovel 43 accounts and leave the truck running as I do so! Heard the 6.4 should be left idle for long periods of time?

4) Heard the 6.4 stock get crap for gas mileage?

5) Drive a 08 dually dump with a v10 right now and have always had gassers! Getting only 7.5mpg with the dually.....looking to expand business by getting older dump for when I need it and get a srw diesel for towing and plowing and daily driver.....but just not sure if a diesel is really necessary?

Any and all advise or opinions are welcome...thank you in advance!

Sounds like you need a diesel definitely. I used the excuse that I tow 3-4 times a year to get a diesel. I'll never have a gasser truck ever again! Gas trucks have the nuts of a transvestite, diesels have the nuts of a raging Bull

I tow a 14-15 k boat two or three times a year about 5 miles.

I tow an old JD302a backhoe about twice a year (depending on how many seals blow on the old thing). I surely don't need a dually diesel but I would never look back - especially after I deleted last weekend and have my mini maxx

Depends on how far, but from my (short towing experience) I would never buy a gas truck for towing on a daily basis. In the past I did, but never again.

I was getting around 13 mpg in the city with my 6.4, but recently deleted and hoping for better milage.
