Gas engines have the oil pressure. Diesel powered trucks have the oil pressure replaced by the trans temp guage and rely on a warning light for oil pressure.

I agree!! We paid tons of money for our trucks and get terrible gauges!!! All trucks over 30K should come standard with a couple things. Good gauges and a compass/outside air temp. I still can't believe I don't have a compass and outside air temp....sorry for the rant.

I'm looking at the Edge Insight, but find it hard to pay over $400 for a set of gauges.

I'm a computer programmer, and actually one of the projects we are working on is on board data recorders for semi's, so I have experience with this stuff. The problem right now is I can't find just an OBD II cord with USB, then I could write a pretty simple program for an old Palm Pilot/computer etc. Althought the OBD II website didn't have much info, I'm sure I could find info if I had the hardware. Ohh, in case you are wondering semi's don't have OBD II, they have a couple other standards.
