Lower then expected mpg?

My friend has a 6.4 and doesn't know anything about diesels, he has a 4" lift with 35x12.5's and a bully dog

He doesn't have an intake or exhaust yet but is getting 12-14 mpg in his tow setting, everything else is less!

I have a 7.3 so I'm not too hip to the 6.4's and what to do to get better mpg's but I stay in the 20's with 33x12.5's and 2.5" lift.

Obviously he needs and intake and exhaust and all that stupid egr and dpf stuff deleted, but what else? And who makes a better chip/programmer for the 6.4?

Does anyone know of any companies that would reflash the bully dog to a tuner that doesn't suck?

I've googled but haven't found anything

6.4's just don't get good mileage. Its like a 7.3 compared to a 6.0. I have a freind with a 7.3 that routinely gets 20+ with an edge(or other equivelant) cranked to the max. I have a 6.0 with custom tunes (street and economy) and I get about the same 14 combined/19 higway(unloaded). My last job had a 6.4 2wd that was lucky to get 14 with a feather light foot on the highway.

Ah that's bad news, but I'm glad I didn't go with a 6.4 tho.

They run great. They've got their fair share of "improvements needed" but they get up and go!

Sent from a phone that makes calls too!

He needs a Spartan programmer and an AFE cold air intake. My 08 f350 with 4:10s gets an honest 19 mpg
