Proud new Powerstroke owner from Central Pa.

Hi everyone my name is Chuck. I'm in the Perry County area of Central Pennsylvania.
I just picked up my first 2008 diesel Ford F350 with the 6.4. I did a lot of research and felt this truck would be best for me when I was in the market for a diesel and actually test drove about 5 trucks (Fords and Dodges) before I bought this one and am very proud of my choice. I took it as a great accomplishment to be able to own such an amazing vehicle.

However this is my first diesel truck truck so if there's anything I need to know about diesels please let me know, all tips and advice are welcome.
I know about the pdf and egr on these trucks but can't do too much about it right now because I have a 3 year 38,000 mile warranty.
Can't wait to meet everyone.

Here's a picture to let you know a little bit about me with keeping it simple and to the point.

Thanks for the advice guys. I did plan on doing some reading up so I'll do just that. I would love to do an egr and pdf delete and add an intake and exhaust with tuner but I have a 3 year 38,000 mile warranty. I figured while I have the warranty I'll do some saving up for the parts for the mods and as well as repairs that may come down the road.

I recently found that my truck either has or had a hypertech chip. I think it still has it because if i drive it somewhat sensibly it's getting between 12 and 15 mpg (according to the dash of course). I'm still testing on that though and I believe it may even possible to get a little more. I'm going to be trying a new route to work and see how that does for it. Hills and mountains can really turn the truck into a gas hog.
Doing some reading about it on here Hypertech seems to have some respect on here which is good to see.

Congrats on the new rig. You'll grow to love it more and more each time you drive it! I do!! I just put on my 5" exhaust and tuned it with an SCT LiveWire with just the canned street tune. While the improvement to me was huge over stock, I can't imagine what it would do with a tune from Matt at GearHead or from Innovative. To weigh 8k+ lbs, it can definitely hold its own!

Enjoy your rig!!

Glad to read that you are enjoying the truck. Make sure to keep am eye on the fluids and try to hook a trailer to help keep the turbo and egr system from clogging.
