Random thought...six speed auto in '08

Has anyone put a six speed auto in place of the five speed behind the 6.4? I get about 20-22 mpg on the highway now, thinking I might be able to improve that with a six speed. Maybe one out of a 6.7. I think it's time to upgrade my tranny anyway, so whatever goes in will be upgraded as well. Just an idea.

I asked about this a while back, probably a year ago, I was thinking about putting it in my '10. A couple guys chimed in and said that it would be close to impossible to put the 6speed with the scorpion in with the 6.4. I guess the electronics are completely different. I figure it would be easier to toss an Allison in.

Your getting 20-22 hand calculated?!?!?!

Dont change ANYTHING!!!! That's amazing mileage.

And IIRC the top gear of the 6 speed has the same ratio or our 5 speeds top gear. So in theory, your mileage in high gear wouldn't change. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong about the top gear ratio.

2008 (Job 1) F250 King ranch 4x4, snow plow prep package with 2.5 level. Black Maxx, B&W Diehard platinums. Dieselsite coolant and transmission filters, NCU Motorsports/amsoil oil bypass kit. Turbo blankets, 5.5 PMF traction
Please collect and message me Shell, Rotella oil cap codes aka "my miles matter" I'm trying to save up for a hat or something.

Aight. Thanks y'all. Yea, 20-22. I drive pretty conservative though. Usually run the speed limit and don't hammer down when I take off. It also helped when I set the tranny to only lock up in 5th at a lower rpm. Not as fast or responsive as it was, but I get better mileage and it shifts nice and smooth.
