Considering 09 f 450 purchase - need advice -

Hi,

I'm looking at a 2009 f450 lariat. It has about 14000 miles. Looks totally stock. Truck runs and drives great! What kind of maintenance issues would I need to address? Are new tires and batteries a consideration given that they are original? What else should be done to "baseline" the truck?

Thanks in advance!!
Matt

Unless its already been done and can be verified, change the oil, fuel filters, check the air filter, check the coolant level and test the nitrite levels. Tires would probably be OK, but I'd still look at the date of manufacture on them to determine that for sure. DOT states 5 years life on a tire...if memory serves me right!

Highly recommend a CARFAX report and have your local Ford dealer show you the Oasis report too.

Good luck!

Thx!! Carfax looks good. Is there a test kit for the coolant? What about the batteries? Have new ones installed or just roll with them?

You can get some from your local Napa. Or you can order the Ford Rotunda from Acustrip it's about $5, for a pack of 4 and the testing key to match, plus shipping. Best $5 you can spend to determine if the truck is worth the money. But at that mileage I highly doubt you have anything to worry about, unless the previous owner totally dropped the ball and didn't change absolutely nothing. Goodluck man.

True, but if your serious about getting a 6.4 your going to need them sooner or later. And as far as the batteries I wouldn't swap em until they give out, use that money for something else.
