gutted DPF - can you run it with out the delete tune?

Saw a thread on folks gutting the DPF/Cat and running it as opposed to a delete pipe. I am considering doing this but modding an assembly to a 4" in/out since it looks factory.

My question is if all the sensors are intact, can you run this set up with no tune for an emissions test? If there is no problem, could you run a DPF delete with sensors in and no tune? I have a guy that dosent care how it looks as long as the computer likes it...

I would put a stock tune back in so the EGR works for testing.

Yeah it works great! There is no need to be dumb like the rest of us and buy a tuner. We like to waste money!

Gotta have a delete capable tuner, even if you run snake oil in your fuel tank.

now, now be nice. You can run it stock, without DPF, just make sure you got an extra $15k or so laying around.

I have an H&S tuner that I am currently running with the delete pipe set up. Guess I worded my question wrong...

If I run a gutted DPF with the sensors in place and remove the off road tune, put it back to stock for inspection (so it activates the EGR) will I have problems?

OR

Should I just swap out the delete pipe with the non-tampered DPF and remove the off road tune for inspection.

I would go with this unless you like large repair bills
