towing 5th wheel

I tow a 12k lb 34ft Cedar Creek 30LSA 5th wheel. I can accelerate going uphill while towing it. There's even more power left too. It's amazing. I used to be on "slow" lane going uphill at 45mph in 2nd gear at 5000 rpm with the gasser 1/2 ton I used to have and the 27 ft travel trailer.

To sum up, it tows better than I thought it would. I had high expectations and the truck & engine exceeded them.

I just got back from my first pull with my new 6.4. Pulling a 40 f.t. gooseneck with one car on the trailer. 12k in tow. Pulled nice threw the mountains very comfortable. Fuel mileage, 10 mpg at 64 mph, not that good compared to my 2007 Dodge with 6.7, same load, same day 13 mpg. I am hoping the 6.4 gets better mileage after its broke in. Running without a trailer the 6.4 got 13 mpg at 71 mph. The 6.7 got 17 at 71 mph. All mileage was hand calculated. I like both of my trucks and am not bashing either truck. The only difference between the trucks is one is a 4x4 auto and the other is 2wd stick. Same gear ratio's and they actually run withing 100rpms of each other at highway speed.

I towed a 5,000 lb BMW 7-series on a flatbed trailer from Wisconsin to Tennessee and could barely even tell that the trailer was there.
