I'm looking at 2 trucks tomorrow & one of them has the 3.31 and the other one has the 3.55. They are both 6.4L's. I am not real familiar with the gear ratios and what they mean, so I am looking for a bit of advice.
I use my truck for towing a mid size trailer (~4,000lbs), and most of that is city miles. Ultimately, I am looking for better gas mileage, not power, though I am sure that they are related.
I'd get the taller gears since you tow very lightly and are wanting better fuel economy. Delete that dpf, get s tuner and you should really see a bump in mpgs. Post some pics if you get it!
3.55 is lower than 3.31's I see that you live in GA, and the best I remember GA.
has lots of hills, so if your in a lot of stop and go in town the 3.55 would be better.
If it were me I would get the 3.55's because before long you may get a bigger trailer.

Well, I went with the 3:55, mostly because I like the truck better. Hopefully I can get the mileage where I want. I drove it home 350 miles last night, towing the car that I had driven up there to get it & I got 13.5 mpg, so it's time for me to start modding!
I will create another thread to formally introduce myself to the forum since I am not the proud owner of a Powerstroke!
