How to get best fuel mileage?

So I have been looking around on the forum and trying to understand all these terms lol... my question would be what is a good fairly cheap effective way to get better gas mileage but still be able to have a little power as well?

I am brand new to diesels and all the mods and stuff you can do with them. I have a 2008 6.4 with 202, 000 miles everything factory. Truck has had no major problems. Getting 15-17/city and 18-20/hwy.

Also if any of you have any good reads that I should read to help me understand the diesel engine please let me know. Thanks for your help.

If your numbers are accurate then you are already getting better mileage than most people get with a tuner and dpf delete. But generally intake exhaust and a tuner will improve fuel mileage on these motors.

Mine is not accurate but, the wife's 2011 fusions computer is accurate. I would hand figure it over a couple of fill ups, and see what is is then you will no if it is accurate.

I get 15mpg hand calculated and I'm tuned and deleted running stock power levels. I averaged 10-12mpg stock. I have a super cab short bed. If I didn't have emissions testing I'd delete the egr. I do plan to get a cold air intake eventually and hopefully I will get around 16 mpg then
