Water Separator Question

Just like I figured, truck finally hits 50K miles and I'm in the process of ordering the performance upgrades (tuner, exhaust, etc.) and something else comes up.

I drain the water separator regularly and just last did it about 1000 miles ago when I changed out the fuel filters. Yesterday morning I got the drain water separator light so when I got home I drained it with no water in the fuel. The light went off, but came on again after 20 miles of driving. Drained again with no water in fuel and the light isn't going off.

After doing my research I figure the sensor needs to be cleaned or replaced. My questions are:

1. Where is the sensor located on the separator and what do you recommend I use to clean it?

2. Do I need to change out the fuel filters even though they were just changed 1000 miles ago?

Thanks ahead for the help! As soon as this is resolved I can carry on with the real fun of tuning the beast!

the filter has a water separating membrane but if it's just a sensor issue your filters should be ok IMHO
