Yep, the place where I work has two Duramax 4500 with DPFs on them. The department spent $150,000 on each and they are constantly breaking down or going into limp mode only because of the emissions crap on them.

They were the biggest waste of tax payers $$$. We hardly ever use them because they are always "deadlined" as we call it....

EPA is a huge fraud... And will cost this country more $$$ in the long run.

Yes EPA is a huge fraud. It's not about clean air it's about money and politics. The EPA is constantly abusing their power and coming up with horrible regulations based on faulty science and statistics that hasn't even been reviewed as it should be. C.A.R.B in CA falls in the same category.
These agencies need to be held accountable, but trying to get Congress off of their a** to do that is almost impossible.

I'm surprised that there isn't some sort of emissions exemption for emergency vehicles.

heh sorry for the rant guys

Don't want to sound like an inconsiderate SOB but at least it was the suspect in the ambulance and not an injured officer or innocent bystander/civilian affected by the criminal's actions. I'm sure there will be a h3ll of a lawsuit from the victim's family. There's an onslaught of 6.0 ambulances at the dealership I take my truck to. From talking to the service advisors, most of the issues seem to be from idling or improper maintenance by the city's fleet mechanics that do the routine maintenance on them. Maybe that's why the city's switching to Chevy gassers here instead of diesels.

I don't remember seeing this many broke down trucks on the side of the road. Every day I can count numerous newer pickups, semi's, dump trucks, garbage trucks and all other types of heavy duty diesel equipment broke down on the side of the road. My dad wants to replace our mini excavator with a new one since its from 06 and 07 right before the emissions got hit hard and I'm trying to keep him from doing so telling him about how much less reliable the new ones are.

This should be in the 6.7 section, not the 6.4 section.

Why? They both have dpf systems and I think the emissions system on the 6.7 is a lot better than 6.4. This could be put in 6.0 and newer threads. That's where the emissions problems started

I have a 6.4L and this is where I spend a majority of my time, and we all have dealt with emission BS so that's why I posted here...
