Couple Questions

Does anyone know what the difference is in a 4x4 truck versus the FX4 package?

Also, I am noticing some models come painted two toned with flares and some do not. Is there a package that added the two tone and flares?

Functionally, nothing.
FX4 was just an option pkg.
Front axle, t-case, skid plates, interior color, paint matched grill ... and 4x4 stickers with "off-road" underneath.

You should still be able to find the sales brochure on the web.

The FX4 was a optional package then a model then back to a package which includes Rancho (branded) shocks, skid plates and a limited-slip differential. Color matched grille is another option. "FX4 Off-Road" decal on the rear vice the "4x4 Off-Road" decal as found on the other models.

I have an XL and also have skid plates and limited slip rear, so really its just a decal and some "rancho" shocks.

All the components can be obtained individually as well. They are not exclusive to the FX4.
