You can do it the day before. It's basically just a visual to make sure all emissions components are there and a throttle snap test to see IF it puts out any visible smoke and how much.

Is it a letter from EPA? or CA?

What exactly does the letter say?

Man.......You got me worried there for a min.
You just got a reg renewal......so, like Fantom said .
That same day lower the turbo boost to 0, unplug the minni, put your OEM intake in and take it to smog.
Hopefully they wont look under the truck, but if they do & say something, just tell em you will be right back.
No big deal............Really.

You can leave the S&B on, it has a carb# so it's fine. But in order to pass smog, your truck needs all factory emissions, cat/dpf/egr even has to have a muffler.

Your intake is legal. But when they raise the hood, dont give them a reason to look further.

My CA smog test was a joke. Guy looked under the hood and under the truck. Never started it. While looking under the hood I asked him what he was looking for... He replied "the EGR" and pointed to the fuel cooler.

Buddy took his '08 with 5" straight pipe and H&S tuned to same guy... Passed.

I guess it depends on where you go but this guy had no idea what he was doing.
