How Fast...

How fast can you go in 4WD on dry pavement...? Obviously in a straight line!

Do you have the shifter in the floor or ESOF 4wd? If you have ESOF (the switch on the dash) and are asking with regards to a boosted launch while drag racing, I launch and then flip the switch back to 2wd, on the gear change, the truck is usually able to drop out of 4 and back to 2wd.

That being said, I wouldn;t go any faster than needed in 4hi, but some guys run 4wd for there entire 1/4 mile pass at the track. I personally would go over about 30-40mph and thats on a rare occasion

Aha... Just might be the answer I was looking for... Didn't think you could get it out of 4WD on the boost.... even if under the speed requirement...

I'm NO expert, but I have broke everything at least once...LOL. I have run my truck in 4x4 with boosted (Low boost) launches and stayed in it the whole 1/4 mile. I have done it several times with no problems. I would be more afraid of trying to switch back to 2 wheel drive at those speeds with a load. I think it is safe to say that you can break stuff no matter what when racing.

I'm curious to hear what others think and do as well.

I thought I read something funny somewhere about the front driveline maybe unlocking at high speeds? I know it sounds odd but I swear I read it somewhere on the forums...seems illogical but who knows, I'm not an expert on that particular area of the truck haha
