Whatcom County (WA) Diesel Shop
So, I am getting ready to move from the area, back home to Alaska. I want to take my truck in to a good diesel shop to make sure it has a clean bill of health before dragging a 10K lb travel trailer up the Alcan. Anyone have a shop they would recommend, preferably one they have experience with? I am in the Bellingham, Washington area.
Some issues of concern
- My brother was following me and said that very time I leave from a stop there is a small amount of black smoke. I can't see it in my mirror, but tailpipe is black so there is definitely some.
-Injector clatter is pretty significant right around 1800-1900 rpm, goes away above or below that.
- Transmission flares often and on some up shifts even feels like it is binding for an instant. To me feels like for a fraction of second it is trying to lock two different gears at once.
The only mods are in my Sig. Anyone think I need to have a gauge to monitor EGTs while towing the travel trailer?
Thanks all. Want to be sure everything is good before I take the wife and newborn on a 2300 mile trek.
