New to the 6.4L and the DPF system

Hello all, I finally decided to sell my 6.0L and I moved on to a 2008 6.4L (Pic below). With that being said, I am super new to the DPF system on the 6.4s and after reading forum after forum I still haven't quite found the answer I am looking for. I picked up a Banks six gun IQ tuner from a friend for a really good price, now I know they arent the best option for tuners but its all I can do for the time being. Now I also picked up a CAT / DPF delete impulsively before doing my research on the tuner. Can I run the Banks tuner with the DPF / CAT delete or will that cause problems? I have also read that you can run the DPF-R device to delete the dpf with the tuner but is there a better option than spending an extra $450 on that device to make it work? or does anyone have a better suggestion? just looking to increase those MPGs, Thanks!

From what I understand, Banks stopped supporting DPF tunes awhile ago. I guess it would depend on when your tuner was made (assuming that it ever supported off-road deletes.)

Its definitely the new tuner unfortunately. But hypothetically what would happen if I installed the DPF / CAT delete and just cleared the codes...? Would the engine go into a constant regen state and flood the turbos?

You cant ditch the DPF without having the correct tuner. Your truck will not operate correctly without reconfiguring the computer. If I was in doubt, I would keep it stock until I saved enough money to buy the correct programmer that supports the delete. Better to be safe then sorry IMHO.

Yeah- buy a mini maxx, sct, or spartan. Or go the dpf-r route. That's basically ur options if u want to delete. I have an extra mini maxx race tuner but I won't let it go for cheap lol so holler at me via PM if you can't find a good deal

Yeah the truck won't start/run without the DPf installed. The only way to delete it is with a tuner.

Cheapest and fastest would be to find an Old SCT livewire. They are not the best looking tuners but they do the job. You can find many on ebay between 350-600 depending on tunes on it. I got one from a salvage truck for $200 sent it to sct and they vin unlocked it for another $200 so it was a fair quick way to get my dpf and egr removed!
