Wrench Caution Light comes on

Wrench Caution Light comes on periodically resulting reduction of power message and a caution light to reduce power. Two Ford Dealers have been unable to anything when they do the computer diagnostics, they have also told me that unless we bring it into the shop with the lights on THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO HELP ME. I can not make the light come on at our will. If I stop and turn the engine off for 10 to 15 min. the light goes out and we can drive anywhere from 50 to 200 miles. I suspect that the exhaust cleaning (burning) cycle has not come on since this problem started 450 miles back. I am driving to Alaska (my home). HELP!!!! I will be taking it to another Ford Dealer on Monday. I have 2008 F-450 4X4 dully crew cab with a 6.4L Diesel and a 5 speed auto transmission. We are towing a 15000 lb. 5th wheel trailer.

Do you have a tuner on it? Is your dpf and egr deleted or still on? If you have a tuner, have it scan for dtc's and see what codes it shows. Or if u don't have a tuner or code scanner, stop in any autozone and have them scan it for codes when the wrench light is on

I believe the wrench light means a drivetrain malfunction.

When my wrench came on it was followed by a passive code (no check engine light but code was present). The code was for the oil temp and coolant temp deltas were too high which meant a clogged oil cooler.

I had the same thing happened to me. Wrench light came on. It threw a code that the dealer pulled up and I called for a malfunction of the fuel (lift) pump mounted to the frame rail. I was under warranty with mine and it went out at 47k. The code was P0232. I also had a reduction in power.
