Bad Head Gaskets?

Hi i drive an 08 6.4 with just the bolt ons and a mini max and recently i began to notice my degas bottle burping coolant out of the cap so i put a new stant cap on. From what I've read people are saying when this typically happens head gaskets are bad, but I have no clue how to tell for sure whether or not my gaskets are bad. I plan on building my motor here very soon so head studs will be a must but for the time being i really don't wanna screw anything up!http://www.powerstroke.org/forum/ima.../thankyou2.gif

I have the same mods.. Just the bolt on stuff.. I puked from my cap, I put it back to stock and brought to the dealer since I still have warranty.. They said there is a new design out for the cap and degas bottle, so they changed it all out, and tested the coolant for gases which was negative and also did a pressure test and was normal.. So It could just be your cap, only way to really tell if just drive you truck how you did the first time it puked to see if it does it again.. I thought it was my gaskets, but I have drove my truck pretty hard and I haven't seen any coolant leak and I haven't noticed a lose in coolant either

Sorry to say it Peter but most likely your gaskets are going. Only a few lucky buggers are lucky e ought to get away with just replacing the cap. Just take it in and get pressure tested I wish I did that but instead I changed about 4 caps and a bunch of other things. Mine went on a mild tune and I drive very conservative.

You got that right!!! Either way get it pressure tested and that will most likely give you your answer

I think he meant for you to replace the coolant cap and THEN drive it to see if it still puked. Just making sure you got that part....
