Hvac settings and ac compressor questions...

Does anyone know when the ac compressor is on for certain HVAC settings? I know it's on for defrost and of corse when the AC is selected, but does the compressor also cycle when the setting is on bi-level? Just curious about that...mainly for fuel economy reasons....

lol We just had this discussion it comes on to dehumidify during cold weather

I know mine only does it on Auto mode so I usually turn that off

but mines a different control so IDK on yours but Mine states "Auto" but if I pick what vent to use like leg mix or upper it over rides the auto and then no AC cycling

Lol, that's weird. On my dads old ranger (a 1995 I think? I was only 10-12) the bi level would run the compressor and the manual even stated that in hvac section that "it would blow warmer air down low and cooler air up top, to keep the parts of you in the sun cool and parts of you in the shade warm"... at least that's what they said... Just felt like cooler air coming out top & bottom to me...
