Auto/manual hubs question
Assuming an issue in a place that I need 4 wheel drive......how do I get around the vacuum system that engages the front axles?

Yes, that is why the hubs have an "auto" and a "lock" setting, if for some reason the auto system isn't working you can manually lock them in
