Ford's new diesel?

It is my understanding that Ford's contract with International(Navistar) will be over in the next couple of years. I have also read that Ford is coming out with their own diesel based on a Land Rover engine designfor half ton trucks.

Do ya'll think that Ford will make their own HD diesel? or find another supplier....Cat? or will they renew with IH?

No Cats Please! I'd be fine with a Ford Diesel, though.

Well, i've never had a 6.0. I've ridden in some and man they are fast! I just haven't been able to convince myself to buy one. I drive 1,000 miles a week and just can't afford down time. I could probably go by a 6.0(used) and not have a minutes trouble and it may last 500,000 miles. But i can't afford to take a chance, cause the way my luck runs i'll get the worst one ever.. I'll just keep the old 96 and 01 and see what happens.

Did anyone see in the new Diesel Power mag. the Cat/Ford 3.0L, V-6HSDI? It was developed in the late '90's by Cat and Ford, but mostly Cat after '98, for the F150's. It was designed to get 50% better economy than the 4.6L gas motor Ford puts in the F150's, well my wife has a 4.6 in her '97 Expedition that get's 18 mpg on the freeway, so that little rascal would maybe get some amazing milage!!!! I myself would like to see a Cat in a Ford, I really think it is time for a change. I have'nt had a Navistar engine that could compare to my '99.5 7.3 as far as performance and ecomomy not to mention reliability! I have a lemon 6.4 right now and my '94 IDI turbo can come within 5-10mph of it pulling the same trailer on the same hill, and it got 9 and 10mpg on the trip where my 6.4 got 5mpg, with 190hp! Somethings wrong when a truck with 289,900 miles and a stock 190hp can almost pull with a new 6.4 that is supposed to have 350hp.. I personaly think Ford has their own in-house engine in the works, I just would'nt mind seeing some yellow under a Ford hood! Maybe we will see a Cat in a F150!
