Opti-Lube XPD fuel treatment

Has anyone heard or used Opti-Lube XPD diesel fuel improver? (www.optilube.com) A flier that comes with it shows a study they did on all diesel treatments and this was one of the top ones (powerservice was one of the lowest).
My friend sells it at his shop and everyone that has used it claims to be getting 4-5 mpg fuel increase. My buddy is only putting it in every 3-4 tanks and claims to be keeping his fuel milage increase. He checked it and after about 4-5 tanks his fuel milage drops back to what it was before he started using it. Also this stuff is only about $30.00 a gallon and you use 1/4 -1/2 ounce per gallon of fuel.
My dad has an 06 PSD with a 6.0 and in the first tank he gained about 4 mpg.
I just need to know if anyone has tried to use it in a 6.4?
I am doing more research on it but I don't see on the flier where it says it is ULSD compatible.
Any help will be appreciated.

Supposed to be the best thing other than 5%+ biodiesel for lubricity. Go for it.

I called Opti Lube (local call the guy lives in Farmington) and he stated the new liturature says it is ULSD compatible. He said I must have gotten an old one, he stated that he has several 6.4's running it and guarantees it is fine to run in the 6.4.
I still would like to know if anyone has tried it in a 6.4 yet or knows anyone who has?
I always hate to be the first, too expensive on a chance.

Products 13 through 15 had a statistically insignifficant effect on the HFRR score compared to the baseline fuel.
Any additive testing within +/- 20 microns of the baseline fuel could be considered to have no significant change. The repeatability of this test allows for a +/- 20 micron variability to be considered insignificant.

DIESEL FUEL LUBRICITY ADDITIVES STUDY RESULTS
Products 1 through 4 were able to improve the unadditized fuel to an HFRR score of 460 or better. This meets the strictest requirements requested by the Engine Manufacturers
Association.
Products 1 through 9 were able to improve the unadditized fuel to an HFRR score of 520 or better, meeting the U.S. diesel fuel requirements for maximum wear scar in a commercially
available diesel fuel.
Products 16 through 19 were found to cause the fuel/additive blend to perform worse than the baseline fuel. The cause for this is speculative. This is not unprecedented in HFRR testing
and can be caused by alcohol or other components in the additives. Further investigation into the possibilities behind these poor results will be investigated.

Thumbs up Re: Opti-lube Summer Diesel Additive Blend

Opti-lube Summer Diesel additive Blend is # 4 on the list and costs about 2 pennys / 2 cents per gallon of fuel. I picked up a pint at salesSTSinc@aol.com, they also sell some Opti-lube oil additive and special severe use grease.

Has anybody tried the grease or the oil additive TOGETHER with the opti-lube summer blend???????

See independent tests results below........it works and only a few cents per tank full.

Now that I believe. 4-5 mpg.... yeah right. I don't think anybody believes that.... if they do, there's 6 acres at low tide that they might be interested in.

I think that any of the additives that increased lubricity (pick your favourite) is a good thing. Remember though, this was on "raw" ULSD.... the stuff at the pump has some lubricity added to it - although you can bet that it is at the bottom end of the scale - as in it may or may not meet minimum requirements.

Talking Regarding Opti-Lube XPD

Seen the artricle so I tried it last year and been using ever since.

I found XPD on at the ON Line Store from Spencer Technical Sales Inc, bought the 2pak WEB special of both the XPD and Summer blend fuel additive. Also added the oil fortifier additive to my engine oil each oil change.

They answered the phone when I called and asked a question also which was important to me before I bought the first time and they had it in stock and shipped it out the same day.

I am seeing about 6% - 10% better fuel milage depending how I drive and if its stop and go traffic, with the $3.00 + diesel fuel prices, I figure I have saved over $100.00 per month even after I have paid for the product. Drive about 200-400 miles per service call trip per day (when I'm working) so the miles and fuel saving add up quickly.

Can't tell about the other stuff the experts tell about XPD but it works for me.

KISS Method- keep it simple stupid, if it works>> use it for the fuel cost savings, all the other expert stuff is a benefit.
