22.5 conversion

I have a 2008 f450 that has a 22.5 rim and tire conversion. I am unfamiliar with how these should be done. i was getting tires put on and noticed that the id of the rim was machined to fit the adapter plate. is this normal?? anyone installed one of these on a 450 that I could get some pics to compair?
