That's probably going to be your cheapest right there. Although sometimes you can find a "lube shop" that, after the filter, cost of oil, disposal, etc., will actually come out a tiny bit cheaper than buying it all and doing it yourself.
I thought about saying that but, I had no idea of what borrow meant.hnoes: Just moving a trailer down the street and towing a huge 5'er across the US are two totally different kinds of "borrow". On my truck, it costs upwards of $80 to change the oil and a full tank is almost $100. Hell you could rent a truck for that kind of money.:cowboy:
Oil change intervals are at 10,000 miles, right? His is on 12,000 miles on the oil. I'm taking a three hour drive to haul some furniture for my brother's dorm room.
Thanks for the input.
Dang oil is getting expensive. My friend has a 2000 5.9L Cummins and he uses some Coastal 15w40 DIesel oil; only $9 a jug.
No thats way over the recommended oil change intervals. Should be around 5000 miles unless you have a bypass filter system on the truck. Is that a new 08 6.4?
yes the new 08. it's an XL company truck. I guess that's why he's so lenient on oil changes and stuff. His company gave him the truck but he's responsible for oil changes and maintenance. It has the ugly regular headlights and not the nice XLT jeweled headlights. But dang, even for an XL, it's well equipped and nice. he said 10,000 miles on the oil change but if you go over , it's ok. I don't know much about diesels.
Man I would really be scared to borrow that truck now if that is how he maintains it! You might want to consider another option, but thats just my opinion. I would never consider running 10thousand miles let alone 12thousand on an oil change without a bypass system especially on the new 08
