Flush Kit

Anyone ever used a coolant flush kit like Prestone or NAPA? It has a "T" that splices in one heater hose and uses a garden hose to "backflush" the cooling system. Then I guess you drain and fill with distilled water a couple of times before adding antifreeze. Sounds like a good way to "flush" out the old coolant if you're just doing a drain and fill.

Aren't you supposed to use distilled water to prevent mineral deposits from forming in the cooling system?

Yes.
But you just flush with regular water first to get rid of as much coolant mix as possible.
Then do distilled flushes to get rid of as much tap water as possible.

Don't make plans for the day you perform a coolant flush. Its a ridiculously long process but its worth every hour!
