Regen message?

I have an 08-F250 6.4. I have 2 friends, both also have 08's, 1 is an F-250, the other is an F-350, both have the 6.4 diesel.

They are given a message on their message center that the truck has entered regeneration.. I do not. I've never seen any message about regeneration.

Mine is definitely going into regen, I can see the rpm at 1200 in park and definitely feel the power difference, and smell while driving.

I called 2 dealerships here locally. 1 says it should say it is in regen, the other said it should not. My owners manual clearly states that I should see one or several messages while in regen.

Any thoughts?

Ya I've called a half dozen dealers today, spoke with 6 service managers and I'm finding that most are clueless about anything to do with this 08 6.4. Scary thoughts if/when service is needed. 1/2 of them say it should say something, 1/2 say it wont, literally.. 3 votes each! I asked about any TSB's for it, they all say nothing shows for it. Go figure.

Send a message via AIM to TwinTurboStroker
I have never seen the message when I saw regen was still active on my truck....it maybe a new feature for the newer 08's but I know mine doesn't have it

I found out that there was a Message center TSB, update released in July. Take it in if you want those messages.. but the same update also warns/prevents you from driving right away if the turbo is cold, or warns you of impending shutdown if too hot.

How did you find out about this "update" and why aren't all 08 owners notified of these updates when they are released.

Someone (perhaps in another forum?) linked me to this TSB. So I called around and found a Service Manager who wasn't completely clueless and confirmed that it indeed does, though not mentioned, inform you when the truck is in Regen.

I have uploaded the TSB here: TSB-07173
