Diesel Tech Off Limits

I know I mentioned this before, but I need some help.

I called my dealership again today. Told them I was coming down to have my wiper arm looked and also if I could meet the diesel tech and maybe ask a question or two. Well, I was met with resistance. I was told under no circumstances could I ever meet with or speak with a diesel tech. That I had to always speak with a service rep. What the hell is that all about? Why would a dealership keep their tech under such lock and key. Are they that bad? Do they think the tech is going to do something for free? This is somewhat pissing me off. What do you all think I should do? Press the issue or find another dealer?

I have never heard of that I just pull up to the back bay and ask for the diesel tech and they will sit there and talk to me I tell them my problem and then he tells me to go talk to the service rep and he will write it up

Yeah Mark, if you are over there, I would just try and find the tech as well. If the dealership is going to be that much of a pain, it might be good to find another one.

I thought they were supposed to be in the business of helping people out. Not sequestering the tech. I hate dealing with people that don't know their arse from a hole in the ground. That's why I like to go straight to the tech. Hell, even at the Hyundai dealership where I take the wife's car, the techs have no problem speaking with me. So why would this place not allow it? BTW, three different people at this Ford dealership told me that I cannot speak with the tech. So this must be well known policy.

I've been a diesel tech at a ford dealer for several years and have never heard of this happening. I've talked to many customers over the years. Sometimes its easier doing that rather than translating through a service advisor.

Never even thought of that one. I wouldn't doubt that. Though I do see tons of diesels being serviced there at any given time.

I am headed there at 2:30, so let's see how this goes. I might just be in the market for a new dealer.
