Possible 6.0 convert needs advice
My wife is wanting me to get a new truçk. I'm looking at the 6.4. Anything I should know? I don't have any experience with these motors other than my dad's who hung an injector and melted a cylinder at 64,000. Lastly I have the option to trade straight up for a 2008, identical in options to mine, with 190,000 miles. I'm at 127,000, do y'all think it would be a semi equal trade?

I wouldn't do it. Especially if the dpf has been on it that long. I would put some money into yours and update the front end to 05-07. Or find one low miles and get the dpf off of it. And if you can't delete it, I wouldn't buy a 6.4.

The goal is to get a truck that can seat 6. With the captain's seats up front I can only fit 5 right now. I like it that way, but with my 4th kid coming I won't be able to fit the whole clan.

Why not look into an Excursion?

That was my first idea, but because I just made her get a minivan when she wanted a Suburban she didn't go for that.

Well do your research on the 6.4 first. The regens are hard on the engine and that's a lot of miles.

Yeah, I'm going to have to say that that's not really a good straight trade. If you're not planning on deleting or modifying the 6.4, the trade isn't really worth much due to the much higher mileage.
It sounds like you want to put your 4th up front. I'm not going to tell you how to handle your lil ones, but I think it would be much better to get something with 3rd row seating. |
