When I bought my traction bars, newton lifts said he doesn't recommend reusing u bolts. Didn't say why but I don't see why if your not changing ride height that u need new ones. I went ahead and got them but I don't think they were needed.

When I did my lift Rize did not send new u-bolts. I put the OEMs back on and havent had any issue and I tow 8000lbs daily. I always check my suspension components when i perform oil changes.

Just put mine on last week (PMF), used the same U bolts, only have 25,000 miles on them, they looked good and were not bent at all.

People say not to reuse ubolts because they are "torque to yield". You're supposed to tighten them to the specs provided by the manufacturer which will be the point where the bolts will slightly stretch. Technically, doing this one time is fine but doing it several times makes the ubolts prone to failure.
However, I have loosened and retightened the ubolts on all 4 of my trucks and have never had a problem. I wouldn't worry about reusing the ubolts. Does it mean they won't fail?...no, but there are plenty of people that do it on this forum and never have problems. |
