Curious about function.
I'm new here so this may have been answered previously. But I am curious. I just did a dpf and cat delete. Using a H&S Pro, Wow, I'm glad I only set it on mild. But the question, on the pipe going into the cat is a bracket holding a cylindrical object approximately 2 1/2 in dia. by 8 in long. The object in question is bolted to the bracket and additionally there is a anchor cable attachment to the bracket also. I first thought the cable was a connector wire of some sort but is not an electrical connection. It connects the object to the bracket as sort of some kind of fail safe harness if the object came undone. But that makes no sense since the same bolts that hold the object are the same bolts that anchor the cable. My only assumption is the object is some kind of harmonic balancer. Can anyone explain the purpose of this object?
The truck is a 2010 F-250 with a standard transmission and four wheel drive. If I ever have to re-install the dpf and cat this object may not be included in the installation.
