Random idle 'surge'

08 6.4 176k (I've owned since 162k tuned since about 166-167k) Mostly highway miles from previous owner. Calculating average speed via engine hours was like 32-34mph IIRC when I purchased, SCT tuned egr disabled (via tuning) but still 100% in place.

I've noticed an odd random surge at idle on my truck for the last two or three months. It does it randomly but always at idle, also the truck just doesn;t feel as powerful as it used to. I keep an eye on my fuel filters and drain the water seperator about twice a month at least. It does it regardless of fuel filter condition (does it even after I install new filters)

I don't beat on or abuse the truck (no sled pulling, de-tune to tow when I do tow, etc) but I don;t exactly baby it either. The 'tick' so to speak has me worried. I will post a video later when I get a chance. but it will idle smooth and then bup, then idle smooth and sudden bup. No visual RPM change via the tach on dash and not a long enough bump to catch it on my SCT readout. it is a random blip it may idle 30 seconds before blipping again then it may be minute or more. Does it warm or cold. I've been using the truck to travel for work lately (4-500 miles from home one way) and I just want opinions on a possible cause/solution so I don;t get stranded that far from home.

Also, can someone post a video of their CCV hose where it vents to atmosphere? Mine exits in front of my front tire (will post pic of location later also) and I notice some days it is venting like crazy (like I can stop at a redlight and see the smoke coming up over the hood) and some days it doesn't seem near as bad. I do plan on rebuilding the bottom end when funds allow (HOPEFULLY before next summer) but could my loss of power be excessive blow by? Or maybe a sticking EGR?

As always, thanks to everyone for their help and assistance!

It could be a sticking egr valve. Although if you have the valve turned off by tuning im not sure. Do the sct tunes cycle the valve at all? If the valve is cycling that could be the cause of the weird idle.

When my egr valve went it felt like the truck made noise but wouldn't go anywhere. I deleted it and never looked back
