08' Tail light LEDs

Anyone just replaced their tail light/brake and turn signals with LED lights? I'm sure a flasher or resistor may be necessary, but wouldnt it be a simple thing to do? I put LED lights in for the license plate, dome light, reverse lights etc already. Is it the 3157 bulb for the tail light/brake ?

3157 bulbs are correct.

You can either add resistors or you can take the truck in to the dealer and have them reprogram the computer for leds. 2008 and up superdutys don't use a standard flasher.

Here is my truck with 2010 tail lights and leds in the daytime:

so there is no way to put in an LED flasher relay for 08 and newer, i was wanting to order LED's for the front turn signals but dont want to mess with wiring, splicing in resistor.

BTW, i believe his LED lights are from V-leds.com

You think there would be any issues bringing a "tuned" truck and having them reprogram the computer for LED's? I have an H&S tuner installed on my truck and dont want that to get messed up.

I'm surprised I havent read anything more about people trying to do this. If all the trucks are capable of being programmed for use of LED's where you could swap all your incandesent lights for LEDs without splicing into any wires, it seems like a no brainer!

Why wouldn't you want to go through the trouble of adding a resistor? It's dead simple and if you mess up the wiring doing that, you need to stay away from DIY mods on your truck altogether.

That's the route I'd take to adding LED turn signals (and it's what I did for my front signals). I run an LED reverse light as well.

It may be your only purpose in life is to serve as a warning for others.

I don't want a bunch of splices in wiring. That's all. I just like the simplicity and cleaness of the flasher relay but if u can't do that with the 6.4 I guess I will have to look into something else

Go RECON for the tail lights, 299 and no splicing! And whatever you do, DO NOT buy led bulds no matter what size you need from them or any other i.e Summit, Jeggs etc. Ebay sells them a hell of a lot cheaper. I've had mine for over 4 years without problems.

Proudly STILL serving!!!
