how cold is it there? my early 04 does it on its own, my 05, my '10 and '12 all do it so maybe something is wrong

I've got I think the latest strategy from ford and it has never done it. The coldest I've had it was 40F maybe a little lower.

you wont see it until you drop into the 30's usually. I will start paying attention to when mine kicks in and see if I can pin point a temp but for some reason 35 degrees sticks in my head.

I had a feeling when you asked that it wasn't cold enough out. I may see in the 30s this year since I'm in north Florida instead of central.

Mine high-idles on its own up to around 950rpm...the manual high-idle is around 1200.

The best of both worlds is my remote-start...and another button I have setup for high-idle.

So I start the truck, let it run for a bit, then engage my remote high-idle if I feel the need.
