Oil Cooler thoughts

So as some of you read from an earlier post, I took my truck in to have the oil cooler replaced. I got a phone call from the dealership saying that during all the tests performed, they could only get a 3-4 degree difference between coolant and oil(So no issues and no oil cooler change and wasted time putting it back to stock).

Whats funny is when I was tuned on HD300 my temp differences would be 10-13 degrees difference.

I then put my truck back to stock with no programming and stock exhaust. I did my testing with the blackmaxx just being used as gauges. The temp difference was between 6-8 degrees.

Then the dealership get 3-4 degrees.

What the heck is going on with all the inconsistencies? Should I pull the temp sensors and clean them? Would that even matter?

All tests I did were performed with engine up to temp on the highway doing 75mph(just under 2000 rpms)

On a side note, when i went back to stock everything. The weird rough idle and shake disappeared when in park and idle drive. Right before i took the Blackmaxx off my truck(so still tuned) I let the truck warm up, white grey smoke was coming from the exhaust and it was idling VERY rough, the worst I have seen it. I turned the truck off then back on and it went to a normal smooth idle with no white smoke. Any thoughts on this?

Maybe it has something to do with the hd300 tunes. Check it out with the default tunes and see what happens.

Or just update your tuner again and see what goes. And I believe your supposed to do the test at 65mph, flat ground and up to temp. That may be the issue as to why yours are higher. Not sure though, just an idea for ya

Well do you still have an idea why the temps were different both times I tested them, tuned and not tuned. I ran the same flat road at the same 70-75 mph.

I will update the tuner, I didnt notice the three new updates from October. Maybe that will help with the park and drive rough idle issue I have been getting.

I am not too worried with the temps, just was hoping for a little more consistent and accurate temps going from my gauges to the dealership gauges.
