Keyless entry has me stumped

I recently bought an '08 F250 with power door locks. It didn't come with a remote so I tested to see if keyless entry was installed. I cycled the key 8 times and the locks locked then unlocked. There is also the anti-theft light on the dash. This tells me it is installed and just missing the key fob. I ordered one and when I tried to program it, nothing. I cycled the key 8 times and pushed the lock button. I cycled the key 8 times with the door open. I tried with my foot on the brake, off the brake, drivers door closed and open. Still nothing. Does anyone else have any ideas? With my locks cycling and the anti-theft light this does mean I have keyless entry, right? I am wondering if I got a defective remote or perhaps the battery is dead. By the way, I did check to make sure it had a battery in it.

Any other ideas out there?

try taking it to the ford dealer and say my key fob stopped working and see if they fix it.

I had the same when I bought my truck, ordered 2 fobs on eBay and they worked fine. I would guess a bad fob, try another ford fob from someone else's ford vehicle and see if it works. They can always program theirs back to their vehicle.
