Deleting soon and wanting opinions

Hello,

Finally got my father talked into tuning and deleting and got thanks to another .org user i have a full system purchased for him. I'm away at college right now and won't be home for several weekends to help him with the install.

What i have purchased is a used h&s mini maxx, and used dpf and cat delete pipes.

A few questions about install: What would be the best way to install the mini maxx. I have read several things about a purple wire under the dash. how would i connect the power wire to that wire? sorry it may come off as a stupid question, just wanting to know for sure. also is there anything i need to know going into the install of the race pipe and mini maxx? please let me know as we will be doing the install ourselves.

Next a few questions about the mini maxx and tuning and trans tunes. What would be the best trans tuning to run for daily driving and towing every now and then. should i just leave it on the factory format or should i tweak with it at all? what is the best tune to run on the truck for daily driving and still keep it safe. i know everyone says most of their best mileage comes on the hottest tune. is this true? once again is there any advice i should know when it comes to tuning?

Thanks for all the advice i'm about to receive. I have a pretty good idea what these trucks are capable of, i just want to make sure on the day of tuning and deleting i'm prepared. I hope to possibly join the .org family in a year or so when i start making $$ after college!

Thanks,
Austin

THe purple wire is in the harness under the drivers side dash to the left of the obd port. Be careful because it is poorly lit under there and you want to make sure you have the rite wire. It will have a factory deadhead on the end of the wire. i just cut that off and used a butt connector to connect to the h&s power wire.
i then ran my HDMI cable behind the weather stripping to the left of the dash up to the dashboard.

installing the cat/dpf delete pipe can be challenging. the first issue will be removing the two bolts on the flange that connects the down-pipe to the rest of the system. i ended up cutting mine. the second issue is getting the factory plugs disconnected from the dpf.
make sure you pack the truck side plugs with dielectric grease so they dont corrode as that can cause a lot of issues down the road. sorry-its hard to tell everything in a post but when you get into it you will find its not that bad.
as for the tunes-the hotter the tune the better the mileage. i ran the default 250 tune with S1M shift schedule. i was a fan of the schedule 1 tunes because they lock the TC in forth and fifth which keep your trans temps down but have a bit of a more noticable shift. i always ran in hot but you have to remember to keep your foot OUT of the skinny pedel esp when towing or you will harm your truck. never use the stock tow/haul function except for slowing down (unless you are towing in no power) because H&S doesn't change any settings in tow/haul and it cannot hold extra power. i hope this helps.

You may need to buy a unlock code for the H&S to use it.

I suggest trying the Shift 2 Schedule Medium. It's the only one I like and that I feel is closest to stock.

Thanks for the advice guys! will make sure to do my best to follow the directions as closely as possible. this will be my first time tinkering with a mini maxx so will be interesting at first.

APEX why do you say this. everywhere i've read the mini will go right on the truck as long as it is vin unlocked from the previous truck?

feel ill get the mini installed pretty easily the exaust might be a little tricky but should get the job done
