3 Year old Stock 6.4 needs some enhancements
Hi guys Im new to the community. I live here in Southern California and I tow alot. I tow a bass boat and a 10,000lb trailer. On a recent trip to Yosemite it just seemed like my truck was getting hotter than normal on recent trips and it didn't seem normal. I only have 70k miles on her but want to make her last. What do you guys have or recommend. I'm not a real techy guy and kind of need help in the most simple form if possible. I get alot of advertisements from Banks but as I look through this forum no one really posts about their products? They seem to put together really good marketing material with test results but it doesn't seem like no one talks about them or their test results. I find that interesting. Im not sold either way just need some direction. I've gone to other competitors sites that are listed on here but I don't see any test results on any of their product such as exhaust temps, Cfm (whatever that is), boost gain. Are these test bogus? because on some of the test results on the 6.4 other company exhaust applications the exhause temps actually ran hotter than stock. Im not trying to sound like a nerd on here but was just curious if anyone on here has done this research and found this testing to be of an advantage. Priced out there Big Hoss bundle and is $3700 installed is that too much money? Heres a link to their site and what I was looking at buying.
Banks Power | 08-10 Ford - 6.4L Power Stroke>>Big Hoss® Bundle Thanks guys Mike |

Being in SoCal you are kinda limited. There are a few guys running the Banks 6gun (either on this forum or the other) and they all seem to enjoy it. As far as from an exhaust temp from the exhaust. I think the banks one is just testing temps at the exhaust tip. And since it pulls in air just before of course it is going to be cooler. I don't think changing your exhaust is gonna help you since you still have to have your DPF. Really what would help you the most is a tuner that is DPF on friendly and turns off the EGR valve. In extremes, maybe a new intercooler.

DON'T buy Banks... Too much advertisement and not enough product...
Way overpriced!!! H&S, Spartan, or SCT are the ONLY good/safe tuners for the 6.4 trucks |

Thanks guys so far......Tell me what you think about this comment from the Banks salesman after I had talked about my research and the Dpf delete.
"Well do you want to stay out of jail? Dpf deletes are illegal and the Carb compliance board is currently doing an investigation into the companies selling these as well as the people who have bought them. He said that they are illegal nation wide and are only available for off road vehicles only." and these people will be tracked since their vehicle information is accessible? Is this true? Seems a little weird and extreme but definitely not worth going through all of that to get some extra performance. |

It is illegal but I have yet to hear of anyone going to jail for deleting the dpf. Most people that have to get emissions checks just have to put their dpf back on for inspections.
