Should I buy a 6.4 with 167K miles?

I am looking at an 08 6.4 with 167K miles. Should I pass or is it a safe investment?

Just not familiar with the 6.4 and have some concerns due to the mileage! Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

If you do buy one with that many miles you might want to consider doing a dpf delete all.the emmision crap is what kills the new diesels, once you get that taken care of it helps ptolong the longitivity of the engingrs life and you will have less problems also ypu might need nee ball joints shocks etc.. Depending if the last owner replaced them

I test drove it today, felt solid and it would blow black smoke when I stepped on it! Has it already had the dpf delete done?

Thats good to hear, and yes it possibly does before you buy it look under the truck to see if it is there or not... And if it isnt thats a plus, but you do need a programer if it has a dpf delete so make sure you get one with the truck. The 6.4 is a badass truck and has some real horsepower hope you can get this truck

How are those tuners on a transmission?

Depends on which tuner....

H&S, Spartan, or SCT are the only three types of tuners I would put on a 6.4 Everything else will be hurting your tranny and be underpowered
