High Mileage 6.4's?

I'm looking at buying an 08 6.4. I switched from my 6.0 to a Duramax and I love my truck, but it just doesn't ride as nice, and there isn't as much room in the cab as my old 2006 had.

I'm a little nervous about jumping into a 6.4 with 90K+ on it. I will tune it, and even though it won't be as fast I think I'll like the truck over all a little more.

So, I'd just like to know do's and don'ts as well as how long tuned trucks are lasting with sensible drivers. Thanks for the help guys.

How about anyone else? When I do get it, should I do anything specific, Like change the radiator bottle cap? Or anything else that I might have missed.

First off..I came from an LB7 and an LBZ Duramax. I looked at your mods and I promise if you drop the same amount of money in a 6.4 as you have your LBZ you will have a truck that will blister that LBZ all day long.

Have a Ford dealer pull an Oasis report on the vehicle you look at. Make sure the radiator has been replaced, the venturi-t has been done and you have both new stlye upper and lower radiator hoses.

My truck has 119k on it and has been modded since 115K.

I bought my truck new in 08, drove it stock for around 65,000kms, then bought an edge race evo & dpf/cat delete& drove it with that for about 30,000kms. It changed the truck & I never looked back. I recently put on a mini maxx & egr delete & now have 112,000 kms on the truck. It is a long ways from high mileage but with these simple deletes I am hoping to get alot of miles out of it.

This is correct do a delete and h&s programming and you'll be amazed. Whoever told you that your truck would be faster is mistaken

Lol, that's funny. And no mistake was made, and it's been proven against 3 different 6.4's. All 3 had spartan tuning

I said h&s for one, but there's no way just search the forums not to mention you tube. Maybe you raced a 6.4 with a bully dog.
