Air-Lift or Firestone airbags??
As the title suggests, anyone have thoughts on one or the other?? Prices seem comparable, so I was just wondering if one is better than the other. My buddy is looking at the Air-lift bags and I was leaning toward the Firestone bags.

I have the air lift and they have treated me fine. I have a buddy that has the firestone ride rites & he likes those. I think it is just whatever is available at the store you choose to buy them at. I have never heard anything bad about either.

I just installed my 1st set of bags, they are the Airlift 5000's, for use with my truck camper, car trailer & like them. I can't compare since these are the first ones I've used but got a good deal on an open box from Amazon, 40% off the regular price.
Additionaly, from what I have read on other RV forums (before I bought my Air lift kit) is that the Airlift bags sit outside the frame rails & handle better with the side to side rolling because they are spaced further apart than the Firestones, which fit inside the frame rails. question on helper airbags (firestone/airlift)
I have the Firestones and they are fine...NOW. My batch of brackets must have been pretty soft b/c mine decided to bend almost immediately before I even hauled anything. I have them all fixed up and welded and now I haul all the time with no issues. |

I just ordered a set of firestones and should be here the end of the week. Called firestone to make sure I get the correct number and they have a new model 2550 that fits more. Supposedly they just came out this year. 08 4x4.

Been very pleased with the Firestone kit. Bought the HD kit which included the airbags, gauge/switch, compressor, and all hardware. Bought two of their 3 gallon tanks so that I had on-board air and put quick release couplers in the rear wheel wells on both sides so I don't have to run a hose around or underneath the truck. Also made the air install possible.

That's kind of what I figured and what I told my buddy. Looks like either one should be fine. He found a place locally that has the Air Lift on sale for the holiday (20% off) and can get them under $300. I may do the same since they have some that will work with my GN hitch.
Thanks for all the replies. |
